Oceanfront @ 54th Avenue North
Gardens by the Sea is a mutual undertaking of the Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club and the City of Myrtle Beach. The idea came about when the club lost a valued member to breast cancer in 1991. Four years and many fund raisers later, plans for the park were drawn up. Construction was completed in 1998, though beautification continues now and into the future. The gardens were formally dedicated on October 25, 2000 and in 2007, through a complete renovation, became the first planned space of native landscaping in the city. The MBWC is dedicated to a green platform and to leading the way in being environmentally friendly and cost effective. |

Puttin' out the Pumpkins - Each fall the club puts in seasonal flowers and spruces-up the gardens for the season which includes pumpkins placed throughout the beds. The neighborhood joins in at Halloween and at least a dozen cleverly carved and lit jack-o-lanterns appear that night as if by witchcraft and give the park a really special appeal.
The gardens are also all lit up for the holiday season and the club does another spruce-up in the spring for Easter.
