Service Projects

Wisely donating all the dollars we raise is what the Myrtle Beach Woman's Club strives to do. Participating in activities for which we are paid, like the annual Carolina Craftsman Show, allows us to do this. Together with our annual dues, these earnings cover our operational expenses so that all income from fund raisers is distributed amongst scholarships, programs, local charities and those we know to be in need. Service Projects are usually chosen to meet a particular need in time; and this year have included raising both funds and awareness for our local Helping Hand agency which, from the incredible demand put upon it, had found itself with almost no food provisions in the fall of 2008. We also held a blanket drive for Street Reach Mission which furnishes emergency shelter and support services to men and women. Each spring we provide lobby services to the Miss Myrtle Beach Teen and Miss Myrtle Beach Pageants as we are strong advocates of these scholarship opportunities offered to our young women.

Far and away our largest recent sponsorship, as well as hands on community service, has been our commitment to Habitat for Humanity of Horry County. The MBWC has sponsored both Women Build I in 2007 and Women Build II in 2008 on the Community Builder level of $5,000.00 +. Each member has also spent at least one day on sight building a home for a family selected by Habitat who work along side of us. It is an amazing experience. The members also provided lunch on three different build days to that crew laboring. We are extremely empowered by this awesome undertaking.

The MBWC greatly looks forward to our newest enterprise in sponsoring Hope House which is a newly founded foster care program for the homeless students at Myrtle Beach High School. Click here and follow our progress as we tackle this urgent need.
